Dear Landlords, Property Owners and Property Managers,
For your convenience I have cut and pasted the portions of the Lead Hazard Prevention and Elimination Act of 2008 that are important to you. They are important because they directly require you to take specific actions at specific times.
They also enable the DC Department of the Environment to levy fines for your failure to comply with the laws. The fines are up to $25,000.00 per day.
The EPA and HUD also have rules, laws and regulations pertaining too many of these issues but for this writing I will only deal with the requirements of the District of Columbia.
I have also highlighted the parts that get right to the point in yellow “red” and “blue” and bold letters. The content that remained in black is also relevant information.
If you have any questions regarding the information or if you would like to obtain the required Clearance Report you may feel free to contact me (Jeffre Powell, Third Party Inspector) at 202-359-4540. Alternately, if you would like to speak with the D.C. Department of the Environment – DDOE to verify the truth of the matter you may contact them at 202-478-2441.
You may find the Lead-Hazard Prevention Act at: http://doee.dc.gov/publication/2013-lead-regulations-finalized (The link will open in a separate window.)
