Mold Inspections, Risk Assessment and Consulting

Mold Risks in Facilities

Five Common Indoor Molds:

  1. Alternaria – Induces reaction in sensitized people.
  2. Aspergillus –  The most common subtype among paranasal sinus infections associated with aspergillosis is A. fumigatus. The symptoms include fever, cough, chest pain, or breathlessness, which also occur in many other illnesses, so diagnosis can be difficult.
  3. Cladosporium – Can cause asthma, hay fever and affect immune suppressed patients.
  4. Penicillium – Some Penicillium species cause damage to machinery and the combustible materials and lubricants used to run and maintain them.
  5. Stachybotrys – Toxic when ingested and inhalation can also irritate the skin.
